APPLEBOOKS REVIEW
Carley Fortune’s sexy summer romance is a reminder that forbidden love can be the hardest to resist. Torontonian Lucy Ashby and her BFF Bridget make a summertime trip to soak up the natural beauty of Prince Edward Island, where Lucy meets Felix—and has an electric, erotic encounter with him. But when she discovers he’s Bridget’s brother and he learns of her bond with his sister, they decide to keep their connection under wraps as a one-off. Still, Lucy can’t keep herself from returning to him every summer. And one year, things with Bridget, Felix, and Lucy are thrown into an uproar that could change all three of their lives. Fortune paints every detail of the island so invitingly that you’ll want to hop on the next flight there. And in depicting Lucy and Felix’s relationship, she rides just the right line between sweet and steamy. But the firm bond between Lucy and Bridget allows for an undercurrent of female empowerment to run through the story, too. It might be the ultimate beach read, but maybe you should save the steamy sections for an air-conditioned room.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Fortune (Meet Me at the Lake) transports readers to beautiful Prince Edward Island in this emotional love story. Toronto florist Lucy Ashby didn't realize that her vacation affair with island native Felix Clark was forbidden. Then they discovered that he's the brother of her best friend, Bridget, who would not approve. After agreeing to keep their relationship on the down low, Lucy is mostly content to see Felix periodically over the next five years, hooking up with no strings attached when she and Bridget visit from Toronto every summer. However, stronger feelings begin to percolate when Felix and Lucy reunite to figure out why Bridget ran away to the island two weeks before her wedding. Fortune builds engrossing tension between Lucy and Felix, who is fully immersed in his local community as a holiday home renovator, by flashing back to their previous rendezvous on wind-swept beaches. The leads have undeniable magnetism, and Fortune avoids the pitfalls of a typical Hallmark ending, instead delivering a truly satisfying happily ever after. Romance fans will devour this.

A really good book, but I don’t feel it was 10/10, I have no complains about the book, but it’s not the best book I’ve ever read

Great Writing
This was such a fun summer read! This felt lighter than the author’s previous 2 books. I’m looking forward next year’s story in this series. Makes me want to travel to Canada for a week during a summer!
